Composting Site

Residual solid sludge is in turn transformed into compost using wood by-products, fertilizers and other products. Specialists regularly supervise all treatment and composting steps to ensure contaminants are absent.

The resulting compost can eventually be spread on flower beds, lawns and fields, as per the standards established by the Ministère du Développement Durable, de l’Environnement et des Parcs.

The following materials are acceptable for composting:

  • dead leaves
  • grass
  • cedar
  • wood chips and sawdust

The following materials are not accepted:

  • pine needles
  • branches (temporary – will be acceptable later)
  • wastewater contaminated with oil or gasoline
  • brown bins (under agreement with municipality)
